This map is a curated snapshot of the REE industry, not a live registry. A few caveats:
- Data quality — classifications and statuses were normalized from a working spreadsheet, with a few missing fields and unclear coordinates resolved through supplementary research rather than pulled straight from the source.
- Geolocation — precision varies by facility: each row is flagged “Exact” or “Approximate,” approximate coordinates (common for smaller or early-stage sites) were often estimated at the company/city level rather than surveyed, and 12 facilities were excluded outright because no location could be confirmed (listed below).
- Deduplication — corporate roll-up rows were removed where their subsidiary facilities already appear individually, but distinct operators that happen to share a physical site — common in China’s rare earth districts — were kept as separate markers, since they represent different entities, not duplicates.
